Turmeric cultivation under value chain and organic fertilizer production from tumeric side

The Chairman of the Bac Giang provincial People’s Committee has issued the Decision approving to execute the project of “Applying the science and technology in building the model of turmeric cultivation under the value chain and producing organic fertilizer from turmeric side products as well as other substandard farm products in Bac Giang province” chaired by Hanoi based Techbifarm Company Limited.

The project is scheduled from March 2019 to April 2021 that belongs to the Mountainous Rural Programme under the management of the province. The total cost is 8.4 billion VND (over 360,000 USD) including nearly 2 billion VND from the Central State budget (85,800 USD) and the remaining mobilized by enterprises and residents.

It targets at building a model of growing yellow turmeric under GACP-WHO in 57 hectares in the communes of Tam Di, Bao Dai, Bao Son (Luc Nam district) preliminary processing the yellow turmeric with the scale of 1 ton of fresh turmeric per batch, extracting raw curcumin with the scale of 1 ton of dried turmeric per batch; building the process procedure and processing line of 3 functional foods; completing the plant, installing the processing line to process and dry materials as well as preserve the turmeric under GACP standard; producing organic fertilizer from turmeric side products and other substandard farm products with the scale of 10 – 15 tonnes per batch; producing 100 tonnes of qualified fertilizers.

During project execution, the staff and farmers will be trained and provided with the technique and new process procedure.
