Pangasius exports exceed USD one billion
Despite a sharp drop in August and September due to social distancing, the overall pangasius exports still increased slightly, exceeding USD one billion.

According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), by the end of September 2021, the total export value of pangasius (tra fish) reached USD 1.07 billion, up 3.2% in comparison to the same period in 2020.
China and Hong Kong are still the largest markets of Vietnamese pangasius, however the turnover took a sharp fall considering the past nine months, reaching only USD 279 million, down 19.9% over the same period in the previous year.
On the other hand, Vietnam’s pangasius exports to the US experienced a strong increase, reaching USD 248 million in nine months, up 42.8% compared to the same period last year. The US is the second largest market for Vietnamese pangasius.
Among Vietnamese pangasius’ Top 5 largest markets, exports to Brazil also increased sharply from USD 28 million in the first nine months last year to USD 45 million in the nine months of this year.
The CPTPP market area, on contrary, suffered a slight decrease to USD 144 million compared to the USD 148 million mark in nine months of 2020. Pangasius exports to the EU in the past nine months also decreased as they only reached USD 78 million.
