Nafoods opens 9,000-ton capacity fruit and veg processing complex
Nafoods Group JSC has opened a new fruit and veg production and processing complex with an annual capacity of 9,000 tons in the district of Duc Hoa in Long An province.
The complex was built on an area of more than 6.5ha in Hoa Khanh Tay commune with an investment of over VND410 billion. Once the complex is put into operation it will generate jobs for more than 300 workers and process the products of thousands of farmers in material zones.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong said the Mekong Delta region has great potential for tropical fruit development. However, to develop sustainable chains of value and production, each locality must double check key product groups to form material zones, and closely coordinate with processing plants to set up closed chains, ranging from materials and processing to distribution.
Nguyen Manh Hung, CEO of Nafoods Group, said agricultural product processors and export businesses must forge closer connections with material zones and focus their investments on developing key products with strong competitive advantage if they want to survive.
