Sustainable development

Dau Tieng district is a major locality of the province in terms of rubber trees. But, the district’s total area for growing rubber trees is only around 49,700 hectares, down 0.2% compared to the same period last year. Many specialized areas on fruit trees with hi-tech application have loomed large across the district. The district’s total area for growing fruit trees is around 700 hectares, up 7.6% compared to the same period last year…

The whole district is also home to 238 animal husbandry farms, up 9.7% against the corresponding period last year. The district’s total herds of cattle and poultry are 199,200 and 3.4 million heads, up 6.5% and 6.25% over the same period last year. The district’s total area for aquaculture is around 116,000 square meters.

Nguyen Phuong Linh, Chairman of Dau Tieng district’s People’s Committee said that hi-quality agriculture is a development target of the district. This is a long-term process in need of the high determination and efforts by the local Party, government and people. In fact, hi-tech agriculture is a sustainable way of environmentally friendly economy. Hence, the district has always got ready to listen to people and enterprises ’feelings and aspirations; made planning for land and water resources; boosted construction of tentative models; attached special importance to human resource training; encouraged people to take part in new-style cooperatives; created coherence among cooperatives in order to fully tap the local advantages for development.

Seeking sustainable consumption market

The district has developed many cooperatives with 70 members each, including Loc Phat Cooperative, Minh Hoa Phat Agriculture, Services-Trading Cooperative, Dinh Hiep Rubber Latex Purchase Cooperative…They have worked very effectively, generating regular jobs for the local laborers with the average income of VND3million and VND6million per person. District-based cooperative groups, including the mother cow cooperative group in Dinh Thanh commune’s Nui Dat hamlet, the pigeon breeding cooperative group in Dinh An commune…have also got thriving. Their products are consumed well, bringing stable income to laborers.

According to Tong Van Huong, Director of Minh Hoa Phat Agriculture-Services and Trading Cooperative, district-based cooperatives, cooperative groups were established from the local real demand and people’s legitimate aspirations, contributing to the shift of the local economic structure. After 3 years of development, his cooperative has generated jobs for laborers, improved members ‘income, reduced production costs.

Seeking a stable consumption market is a great challenge of the local agriculture cooperatives, especially fruit tree ones. Mr.Linh said that the district will further mobilize all resources to promote the local collective economy; create favorable conditions for economic sectors to make investment in cooperatives; support units to apply sci-tech advancements into production in association with trade promotion, aiming to enhance the efficiency of production-business and competitive capacity in the market…
