Five farm products enjoy impressive export growth in March

The export turnover of fruit and vegetables, cashew nuts, rice, peppers, and cassava all recorded stellar double-digit growth during March in comparison to previous months, according to the statistics released by the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

Of all the farm produce which saw strong growth, cashew nuts experienced the highest rate of export growth with the total volume reaching 43,944 tonnes at a value of US$309.2 million, an increase of 68.4% in volume and 67% in value.

Throughout March, the country exported a total of 332,727 tonnes of cassava and cassava-related products worth US$116 million, a rise of 47.4% in volume and 63.6% in value. Meanwhile, pepper exports raked in US$83 million with 40,297 tonnes, up 57.4% in volume and 45.6% in value.

Elsewhere, the export of fruit and vegetables saw a surge of 42.5% to US$361.6 million, while rice exports successfully reached 591,407 tonnes with total value of US$271.5 million.

The statistics indicate that China remained the largest consumer of Vietnam’s farm produce during the first quarter of the year with a turnover of US$1.15 billion, an annual decline of 14.7%. This was followed by the European Union with US$684 million, representing an increase of 5.5%, and the United States with US$402 million, a rise of 7% on-year.
