It is harvest time for some orchards of early ripen lychee in the northern province of Bac Giang with small quantity of the fruits that enjoys  high selling price of 25 – 50,000 VND (1.08 – 2.15 USD) per kilogram.

Farmers in Tan Thanh commune (Lang Giang) sell the lychees at 25,000 VND per kilogram in May 16.

On May 16, Tran Thi Thanh in Tan Thanh commune (Lang Giang district) harvested nearly 50 kilograms of early ripen lychee and sold at 25,000 VND per kilogram. “We estimate to harvest over 100 kilograms of early ripen lychee this year,” Thanh said.

Her fruits have red peel, good appearance and a little sour flavour. However, there are fruits with stem-end borers.

In Thuong market, this kind of fruits enjoy high price at 45 – 50,000 VND per kilogram because they are bigger without any stem – end borers and sold via intermediate stages. The tradesmen bought these lychees from the early mature orchards in the districts of Lang Giang, Luc Nam and Yen The.

The early ripen lychee in the province will be mostly harvested at the end of May. The farmers in Phuc Hoa commune (Tan Yen district) shared that this year the early mature lychee is bumper with high quality; hence several enterprises have visited for survey and order.
