Hoa Binh has a lot of potential to develop aquaculture and freshwater fisheries, especially in the reservoir area of Da River Hydroelectric Lake with approximately 8,900 hectares, there is rich and abundant in fish species, including many rare species.

 As the State agency responsible for managing the project, the Department of Science and Technology already examined the progress, accepted the results according to the State regulations. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinated to set up the technical regulations for commercial fish production, natural fish and shrimp exploitation, etc. The project basically met the planned objectives, completing the content of work with the approved quality. On 8/6/2018, the National Office of Intellectual Property (Ministry of Science and Technology) granted the certificate paper of Brand Protection of "Da River fish - Hoa Binh" and "Da River shrimp - Hoa Binh" for fish and shrimp products in Hoa Binh Hydropower Lake. In which, there are 16 species of exploiting fish, 18 species of feeding fish and 1 type of shrimp registered Brand, accompanied by sensory, physical and food safety standards for each type. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is the owner of the Brand, the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Aquatic Product Quality Management implements the function of brand management.

When the certificate paper of Brand Protection of "Da River fish - Hoa Binh" was granted for the fish of Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant, it is the first time that the exhibitions and displays of fish specialties of Da River were held in Hanoi for a week (from July 2-7, 2018), many of the consumers of the capital have been attracted to this event. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade – the organizer – has said that many kinds of fish such as sturgeon, tilapia, black carps, etc. are being fed and raised in fresh water environment in Da River, then will be sold to 15 Big C supermarkets in the Northern provinces. Da River fish has been assured about the quality, and they have typical features that can not be mixed with other kinds of fish. In the upcoming time, the Ministry will continue to cooperate with big distributors such as Big C, Aeon, Lotte Vietnam, Saigon Co.op, etc. to bring the source of food safety into the distribution systems nationwide. This is an opportunity for the province's typical products to be certified their quality and to reach out to the nationwide consumers.
