Bình Định Tuna brand announced
On December, 21, the event of “Bình Định Tuna” announcement was held by Bình Định Agriculture and Rural Development Department in association with Bình Định Science and Technology Department and Hoài Nhơn District People’s Committee in Tam Quan fishing port, Hoài Nhơn district, Bình Định province.
Bình Định Tuna brand is recognized upon the Decision no.38745/QĐ-SHTT dated June 06, 2018 by National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam, Ministry of Science and Technology and its legal entity Bình Định Agriculture and Rural Development Department.
Deputy Director of Bình Định Agriculture and Rural Development Department Trần Văn Phúc says the registration and recognition of “Bình Định Tuna” if the initial and basic step for organizations and individuals to exploit, process and trade Bình Định’s tuna for their business efficiency improvement.
The Department will team up with Hoài Nhơn District People’s Committee to advertise, introduce and instruct relevant organizations and individuals to use this brandname for the best of the province’s tuna exploitation development.
Tuna is now mainly exploited in Hoài Nhơn. After being transfered Japan’s technology and fishing-tackle in exploitation, process, and consumption within 2015-2017, Bình Định tuna exploitation has achieved positive results.
Total 1,305 kg of whole round fish has been exported to Japan at 237,000 dong/kg averagely. Of all the fish exported to Japan, type A tuna (whole round) makes up 3% of the checked ones, and type B (fillet) makes up 83% of total exploited ones.
Besides, Bình Định fishmen are getting used to fishing gears and modern technique from Japan to apply into their exploitation, treatment and preservation so that product quality and value will be improved. Fishery has been a development of Bình Định,with exploited seafood amount in 2018 being estimated to reach 230,000 tons.
