Bac Lieu promotes shrimp brand to the world

In order to promote the image and brand of Bac Lieu shrimp products to the world, on June 29, in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh province, Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee coordinated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province and Vietnam - Australia Group held a talk show titled "Meet Bac Lieu".

Vietnam's shrimp industry is experiencing great opportunities to increase its development and reach out to the world. Every year, Vietnam exports US$ 4 billion of shrimp; striving to 2020, Vietnam's shrimp exports will reach US$10 billion per year. As the result, Bac Lieu province has been constantly innovating to develop the shrimp industry towards high technology, aiming to conquer difficult markets around the world.

Speaking at the seminar, the Deputy Director General of Directorate of Fisheries, Tran Dinh Luan, said that in order for Vietnamese shrimp to affirm their position, they must ensure the production chain. At the same time, it is necessary to develop shrimp farming towards high technology to meet the development needs in the technology development period.

Currently, shrimp production in Vietnam accounts for about 50% of the world market. In order to organise the production of Vietnam's shrimp industry in the coming times, the localities need to focus and create favorable conditions for enterprises to invest and develop, said Deputy Director General of Directorate of Fisheries Tran Dinh Luan.

According to the Chairman of Bac Lieu People's Committee, Duong Thanh Trung, Bac Lieu meets the conditions for nature, resources, factors of weather, and techniques to develop the shrimp industry. Currently, the province has the leading technology in shrimp production and the largest seed shrimp source in the country supplied by Vietnam - Australia Group. Bac Lieu is considered the capital of high-tech shrimp farming, with the province having many mechanisms and policies to support businesses.

Bac Lieu shrimp faces huge opportunities to reach out to the world. Therefore, Bac Lieu province has always focused on producing clean, high quality shrimp with traceability. The biggest market of Bac Lieu province is China; in the future, the locality will continue to connect with big and fastidious markets, with the aim of improving the position of Bac Lieu shrimp in particular and Vietnam in general.
