Bac Giang focuses on pandemic prevention and online sale of early ripening lychee

The early ripening lychees in Bac Giang province is harvested soon with outstanding productivity and quality. Taking the advantages, the local competent agencies and authorities have well prepared the condition to welcome the harvest season.

Tan Yen district has more than 1,200 ha of early ripening lychee with estimated output of over 13,000 tonnes. Recently, 6 businesses have inked contract to buy Phuc Hoa early ripening lychee, particularly lychee to export to Japan will be bought at 25,000 VND (1.08 USD) per kg. Besides, 18 traders have registered to buy lychee to export to Chinese market via Phuc Hoa lychee consumption cooperative.

Apart from domestic market, this year Tan Yen district has first ever organized the Departure Ceremony for early ripening lychee to Japan on May 26, Chanh Thu Company Limited is expected to be the first one to depart with 20 tonnes of fruits.

Together with Tan Yen district, Luc Nam, Luc Ngan and Lang Giang districts are preparing to harvest nearly 40,000 tonnes of early ripening lychee. Amid the complicated development of Covid-19 pandemic, the localities have paid special attention to consumption and disease prevention and control.

In accompany to the localities, Department of Industry and Trade has coordinated to the district People’s Committee to support in term of stamp, label and package. Meanwhile, the Department plans to assist the businesses and cooperatives which are specialized at producing, processing and consuming lychee to use e-commerce application to promote the products and approach to domestic and foreign customers. As schedule, early ripening lychee will be introduced on e-commerce platform Alibaba in May.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has joined hands with the People’s Committee in Luc Ngan, Tan Yen and Luc Nam districts to build and implement the plan of early ripening lychee production to ensure quality and suit to actual Covid-19 situation. The Department also collaborates to Departments of Health, Industry and Trade as well as localities to accelerate the market development activities, linkage to sell lychee on domestic and foreign markets.
