Agricultural product exports to Indonesia see sharp decline
Exports of agricultural products to Indonesia fell sharply in the first seven month of this year. They included rice (down 96%), coffee (51.2%), tea (47.7%) and fruit and vegetables (57%), according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
However, Vietnam total exports to the country in the period increased by 10.3% against the same period last year to US$1.63 billion.
Vietnam exported 32 kinds of products to Indonesia, five of which earned revenues of more than US$100 million each. Telephones and components came first with US$358.27 million (up 19.9%), trailed by steel with US$222.08 million (up 27%), machines, equipment and tools with US$136.1 million (up 18%), computers and electronics with US$127.8 million (up 78.7%) and garment and footwear materials with US$108.1 million (up 13.4%).
In general, most of the export products to Indonesia, except agricultural products, grew in the first seven months of this year. Chemicals obtained the highest growth of 430% to US$22.91 million, followed by confectionary and cereal products (up 367% to US$5.79 million), paper and paper products (up 108% to US$108.1 million), ores and minerals (up 298% to US$1.2 million).
