Chinese firm Guangzhou Guangxing Science and Technology wants to farm fish in converted shipping containers.

Each converted container costs CNY 45,000 and can be used to farm 2,500 kilograms of fish per cycle. The fish can be farmed at a density of 100kg per cubic meter.

Yi Lipeng, vice general manager at the Guangzhou-based firm, said the closed environment ensures farmers can guarantee the quality of fish. He said seabass, snakehead, grass carp and tilapia could be farmed in the containers.
