BAC LIEU – Viet Uc Seafood Corporation will launch a high-quality shrimp farming greenhouse complex worth around VND1 trillion (roughly US$44 million) later this month, heard a seminar on hi-tech agriculture in the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu late last week.
The complex which covers 315 hectares in Bac Lieu Province’s Hiep Thanh Commune includes a breeding facility, a feed processing plant, a greenhouse shrimp farm, and a shrimp processing plant.
Its annual output is expected to reach an average of 120-130 tons of shrimp per hectare, according to the organizer of the seminar.
Bac Lieu chairman Duong Thanh Trung said the complex which is located in a 418-hectare hi-tech agriculture zone for the city’s shrimp farming is expected to create jobs for 2,000 residents.
Phung Quoc Dien, general director of NS BlueScope Lysaght Vietnam providing material solutions to this hi-tech shrimp farming complex, said the domestic agriculture industry is in dire need of rapid changes to create new competitive advantages, so the demand for investments in the hi-tech agriculture is huge.
He noted that many enterprises have chosen solutions and materials not in line with modern agricultural science. This has led to farms following old models and lacking functions to apply advanced technology despite their huge investments.
“We want to accompany enterprises to solve the issue,” he said.
The company has developed the Lysaght Agrished farming solution which is suitable to the natural conditions and farming practices of Vietnam at 22 large farms. It provides a complete solution for hi-tech farming, from planning, design, construction and materials for all types of farms.
