Vietnamese coffee exported the most to Germany

Vietnam’s coffee exports in the nine months of this year decreased in volume but increased in turnover with Germany being the product's largest market.

According to the Industry and Trade Information Centre (Ministry of Industry and Trade), Vietnam’s coffee exports in the first nine months of 2021 reached 1.18 million tons, valued at USD 2.23 billion with an average price of USD 1,883.7/ton. Coffee exports during the nine months of 2021 decreased by 5.4% in volume but increased by 3.4% in value and 9.2% in price compared to the same period 2020.

Vietnam's coffee exports the most to the German market in the first nine months of the year, reaching 181,014 tons, valued at USD 319.52 million with the price of USD 1,765.2/ton, down 1% in volume but up 13.8% in turnover and 14.9% in price over the same period in the year before. Coffee exported to Germany accounted for 15.3% of the total volume and 14.3% of the total turnover of Vietnam’s coffee exports.

The USA is Vietnamese coffee’s second largest consumption market. In the first nine months of the year, coffee exports to the USA reached 96,472 tons, worth USD 189.42 million and priced at USD 1,963/ton. This is a decrease of 13.9% in volume, 5% in turnover but an increase of 10.2% in price in comparison to the same period in 2020, accounting for more than 8% of the total export volume and turnover.

The Italian market ranked third in terms of importing Vietnamese coffee, reaching 100,464 tons, equivalent to USD 171.82 million with an average price of USD 1,710.3/ton, down 11.9% in volume and 4% in turnover but up 9% in price, accounting for 8.5% of the total volume and 7.7% of the total turnover of the country’s coffee exports in the first nine months of the year.
