Total seafood output in the first four months increase by 0.4% from last year

According to the Directorate of Fisheries, total accumulated output of seafood since early this year is estimated to reach 2,200 thousand tons, up 0.4% compared to the same period last year.

As for aquaculture, the total area of brackish water shrimp reached 444,393 ha (accounting for 78.4% compared to the same period last year and reaching 61.6% of the 2020 plan), with 422,410 ha of black tiger shrimp (equal to 78.7% of the same period last year) and 21,983 ha of whiteleg shrimp (equal to 71.9% of the same period last year).

The output of brackish water shrimp as of Apr 20, 2020 reached 168.6 thousand tons, down by 5.6% compared to the same period last year, with black tiger shrimp reaching 65 thousand tons (down 15.6%) and whiteleg shrimp reaching 103.6 thousand tons (up 2.1% ). The estimated output in April is 67,629 tons, with 20,000 tons of harvested black tiger shrimp and 53,800 tons of harvested whiteleg shrimp.

As for pangasius, the accumulated stocking area reached 3,788 ha (equal to 69.65% compared to the same period last year) and harvesting area was 886 ha (equal to 82.88% compared to the same period last year). As of April 20, 2020, the output of harvested pangasius reached 248,304 tons (down 17% compared to the same period last year) and it is estimated to reach 322,364 tons as of April 30, 3030 (down 11,85% compared to the same period last year). Prices of commercial pangasius type I are ranging at 17,500-18,000 dong/kg and baby pangasius is between 24,500 and 25,000 dong/kg.
