In the implementation of the plan of high-tech agricultural development in association with the restructuring of the agricultural sector, in addition to the efforts of the political system, the participation of enterprises in the province has had initial results.

Melons are grown according to a clean technology process

In Thanh An commune, Thanh Hoa district, Long An province, FreFarm Joint Stock Company decided to invest more than VND 100 billion with an area of about 71 hectares and more than 200 employees to produce clean agricultural products for the Vietnamese market and export orientation.

At present, there are 14 farms with 4 hectares of melon growing well and harvesting steadily. The melon production process is standardized from the construction of infrastructure to selling to consumers. Seeds are selected from countries that have the world's leading agricultural standards such as Japan and Israel.

Membrane Technical Manager of FreFarm Joint Stock Company - Lam Chanh Vu said: “It is very important to take care of seedlings to minimize the attack from pests and diseases when growing up. On average, each tree produces one fruit, some trees that grow well can produce 2 ones. High-tech planting techniques are transferred from the University of Agriculture and Forestry in Ho Chi Minh City. After harvest, agricultural products are preserved by high-quality Japanese freezing technology.”

Melons are grown according to a clean technology process. Because of using bioproducts instead of plant protection products, productivity is high, quality is guaranteed. Each melon weighs from 1.5 - 2 kilograms, the selling price is from 59,000 - 75,000 VND per kilogram. All products are consumed by supermarkets in Ho Chi Minh City.

The company is planting 2 types of melon: Japan (65 to 66 days), Taki (60 to 62 days). In the coming time, the company will expand the area of melon planting to 20 hectares and apply GlobalGAP production process to serve the domestic market and export.

According to Party Secretary of Thanh An commune - Nguyen Quoc Dat, recently, many investors have applied for high-tech programs in the commune, including melon cultivation. This model brings high efficiency, contributing to job creation for people inside and outside the commune. Implementing the policy of the province and the district, the commune's authorities continue to call on enterprises to invest in high technology in agricultural production, brand building and market development in the locality. The authority always creates favorable conditions for enterprises.

Application of high technology to agriculture is a breakthrough solution to implement the restructuring of the agricultural sector in the province. Recently, all levels and sectors have carried out many solutions to encourage enterprises to invest in high technology into agricultural production, brand building, and market development. This is a necessary direction because it helps to increase the value of agricultural products and promote the process of local economic restructuring./.
