Price of raw material shrimp rise again
The price of raw material shrimps is rising again in some local areas, helping farmers earn steady profit.
According to the Bình Định Fisheries sub-department, the local farmers have harvested two crops and sold their shrimp at 105,000 VND/kg (size 100 pcs/kg), up 20,000 – 25,000 VND/kg from the previous five years.
In 2019, the province stock brackish water shrimp in the area of 2,198.1 hectares, equal to 81% of that in 2018, with 1,776.2 hectares for the first crop of white leg shrimp and black tiger shrimp and 421.9 hectares for the second one of white leg shrimp. They have got more than 7,864 tons, up 21% with the first crop of 4,121 tons and the second one of 3,7433 tons.
In Bạc Liêu, the price of shrimp has risen for the last two months, up averagely 20,000 – 25,000 VND/kg, giving local farmers the profit of 30 – 40%.The raw material black tiger shrimp size 30 pcs/kg is sold at 180,000 – 190,000 VND/kg, size 40 pcs/kg is at 140,000 – 160,000 VND/kg while the raw material white leg shrimp size 80-100 pcs/kg is ranging at 86,000-100,000 VND/kg, size 30 – 40 pcs/kg is at 140,000 – 160,000 VND/kg. However, many traders said the production of raw material has declined by 70%. It is estimated that Bạc Liêu has harvested 127,000 tons of shrimp for the last ten months, nearly reaching 90% of the plan.
