The modern technical infrastructure at Phu Yen High-tech Agricultural Park is in the final stages of completion, with some major investors attached to the scheme in the south-central province.

The project on first-phase infrastructure development at the park was adopted through Decision No.712/QD-UBND issued in 2016 by Phu Yen People’s Committee, with the total investment capital of VND520 billion ($22.6 million).

The project includes the Lo Chai 1 irrigation system, a main road, headquarters, a wastewater treatment system, and other works related to electricity, information, resettlement, and tree plantation.

The irrigation system, main road, and resettlement area have been constructed, while the remaining three works remain in the pipeline for completion due to capital shortages.

The project to build the high-tech agriculture research and development centre on an area of three hectares will be put into operation later this month. Meanwhile, the initiative to combine the solar power system and the watering system has also been put into use. Moreover, construction of high-tech agricultural production greenhouses for demonstration purposes has been completed.

The focus for the High-tech Agricultural Park is on cultivation, animal husbandry, forestry, fishery, produce preservation and processing, and production of biologically-finished products and animal feed in service of the south-central coastal region.

Over the past few months, the park has been co-operating with the Institute for High-tech Research and Application under Dalat University, privately-owned Dac Loc Fishery Co., Ltd., several Japanese enterprises, and the Institute of Agricultural Science for Southern Vietnam.

In addition, the park has also been co-operating with other localities, such as related parks in Ho Chi Minh City and the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, in order to exchange information and experience, transfer technology, and promote high-quality human resources development.

Nguyen Van Hung, director of the Authority of Phu Yen High-tech Agricultural Park, said that in 2019 the park granted investment certificates to four projects with the total registered capital of VND467.6 billion ($20.3 million), raising the total number of projects at the park to seven, registered at VND606.6 billion ($26.4 million).

In 2020, in order to attract more investment, the authority has proposed Phu Yen People’s Committee to issue incentives for backers of the park, with a focus placed on land, corporate income tax, and export-import tax, among others.

In addition, Phu Yen Party Committee has also enacted an action programme on infrastructure development and investment attraction, while effectively promoting the operation of the High-tech Agricultural Park.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has asked the province to implement a project on applying high technology in producing a number of vegetable products with high value at the park and in surrounding areas into next year, with a total cost of VND3.8 billion ($165,200).
