Phu Giaos hi-tech agriculture developed in right direction
Over the past time, Phu Giao district’s People’s Committee focused on directing the local sectors, authorities at all levels and mass organizations to realize the local Party Committee’s Action Program No. 22b dated November 6, 2016 on agricultural development and newly-rural construction, thereby creating a breakthrough in the local agricultural sector.
Hi-tech farms
In 2015, the proportion of cultivation accounted for 70.4% of the district’s agricultural structure while animal husbandry occupied 29.6%. Under the local Party Committee’s Action Program No. 22b dated November 6, 2016 on agricultural development and newly-rural construction, the district has so far made obvious changes in socio-economic development. Noticeably, the district’s hi-tech agricultural field has reached robust growth. Many hi-tech cultivation and animal husbandry farms have been developed with hi-economic efficiency.
The district’s agro-forestry production value last year reached more than VND3.99trillion, up 5.86% compared to 2017. Of these, agro-forestry and fishery production value from district-based animal husbandry and cultivation farms was more than VND1.52trillion. The district’s agricultural structure was shifted towards the growth of animal husbandry and the decrease of cultivation with 30.6%-69.4% respective proportion.
Not running after quantity
The district has so far formed up concentrated production areas with main crop plants like rubber, pepper and fruit trees.
In terms of animal husbandry, the whole district is now home to more than 2 million heads of poultry and cattle. Particularly, there are 150 breeding facilities with more than 1.62 million heads of poultry and cattle. Most of them have been developed with hi-tech application.
Along with 2 hi-tech agricultural parks in An Thai and Phuoc Sang communes, the whole district now has 177 farmsteads meeting standards of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development with a total area of more than 1,520 hectares. Developed in 2008, An Thai hi-tech agricultural park has so far become a typical green economic model, opening up opportunities for the local farmers to make the shift of plant structure, improving the quality of agricultural products for export.
The district has also fostered 100 hi-tech models, including 54 cultivation models under VietGAP standards, 46 animal husbandry models, 22 organizations and individuals with hi-tech agricultural production models got loans under the Resolution No.04 of provincial People’s Committee.
Doan Van Dong, Chairman of Phu Giao district’s People’s Committee affirmed that hi-tech agricultural development is an indispensable way of the district. For better evolution, hi-tech agricultural models need to be line with the local natural conditions, production development, people’s investment capacity and management. The district defined that hi-tech agricultural products must satisfy requirements on quality and not make bad impacts on the environment. And hi-tech agricultural production must be line with the local orientations on socio-economic development.
