Slump in price of material pangasius in many prefectures of the Mekong Delta has made farmers suffer from 2,000-3,000 dong/kg loss.

Particularly, material pangasius type 1 (white meat, 800-900 gram/pc) are sold at 20,000 – 21,000 dong/kg in Cần Thơ, An Giang, Vĩnh Long, Đồng Tháp, down 5,000 – 7,000 dong/kg as compared to the last four months.

Many farmers are suffering 2,000 – 3,000 dong/kg loss from such selling price of commercial pangasius as they spent 23,500 – 25,000 dong/kg on farming. The slump was caused by slow export, especially decreasing exports to China as compared to the same period last year.

Besides, although pangasius has reached harvest size, local processing companies have delayed their trade or reduced their purchasing quantity, making price of pangasius fall.
