Over 100 ha of fruit trees in Tan Yen qualified as VietGAP standard

Tan Yen district (Bac Giang province) is now home to a total area of over 3,300 ha of fruit tree cultivation, 2,600 ha of which is ready for harvesting with total productivity of 24,174 tonnes.

As the local key plant, the early ripen lychee yielded 12,950 tonnes of fruit this year with estimated value of nearly 400 billion VND (17.2 million USD).
Besides, the star apple is grown in 42 ha with an output of 190 tonnes while the guava covers 184 ha with the productivity of 820 tonnes.
To increase the economic value of the fruit trees, the district People’s Committee instructed the communes to focus on following VietGAP procedure in cultivating 1,200 ha, enhance to inspect and supervise the farmers in execution of the set standard.
Particularly, this year the district granted the VietGAP certificate to over 100 ha of fruit cultivation area, including 35.3 ha of guava, 5 ha of star apple and 60 ha of early ripen lychee mostly in the communes of Cao Thuong, Hop Duc, Phuc Hoa and Tan Trung that makes the total fruit area grown under VietGAP standard up to 308.3 ha in the district.
