The Plan is issued to build areas specializing in giant freshwater prawn culture with the use of biological products to reduce environmental pollution, adapt climate change and gradually improve output and quality for food safety assurance. This is to satisfy increasingly high demand of customers of Hà Nội.

To fulfill its targets, Hà Nội will carry out a demonstration of commercial giant freshwater prawn culture. In 2019, the city is developing shrimp-rice model (estimated production reaches over 1.5 tons/ha) on 3 ha land in Ứng Hòa, Mỹ Đức, Phú Xuyên districts and a semi-intensive giant freshwater prawn farming system (estimated production reaches over 1.5 tons/ha) on 2 ha land in Thanh Oai, Phú Xuyên.

A semi-intensive giant freshwater prawn farming system will be built on 2 ha land in Phú Xuyên and Thanh Trì in 2020, and intensive farming system (estimated production reaches 3 tons/ha) in Ba Vì and Ứng Hoà. In 2021, Mỹ Đức, Ứng Hoà, Chương Mỹ, and Ba Vì will practice the intensive farming system in total 4 ha land, and in 2022 this model will be carried out in 4 ha land of Ba Vì, Chương Mỹ, Thanh Oai and Phú Xuyên districts.
