Price of pepper export has been on a continuous upward trend in the past months and peaked since January 2018.

Vietnam's export pepper price skyrocketed in the past 8 months.

According to estimations by the General Department of Customs, the average export price for pepper in Vietnam in August 2021 reached 3,736 USD/ton. This is the highest level since January 2018, an increase of 3.4% compared to July 2021 and a sharp increase of 49.4% compared to August 2020.

In the first 8 months of 2021, Vietnam's average export price of pepper reached 3,321 USD/ton, up by 51.1% over the same period in 2020.

The sharp increase in the export price of pepper contributed greatly to the overall growth of Vietnam's pepper industry. This is a positive signal in the context of which export prices of many other agricultural products have dropped and pepper exports are facing many difficulties due to higher freight rates and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Thanks to the sharp increase in export prices, it is estimated that the pepper export volume in August 2021 will reach approximately 17 thousand tons, valued at 63.13 million USD, down by 2.4% in volume compared to August 2020, but up by 45.8% in value.

Overall, in the first 8 months of 2021, pepper export is estimated at over 197 thousand tons, valued at 654.6 million USD, down by 2.3% in volume, but up by 47.6% in value over the same period in 2020. .
