Đồng Tháp to grant identification numbers for 100% of pangasius ponds

According to Đồng Tháp provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural, the province has 2,450 hectares of pangasius ponds in value chain, 20 companies involved in pangasius farming for export (nearly 970 hectares) and 1,564 facilities where fries are produced and supplied to the market.

Pangasius farms are organized and managed under quality standards with identification numbers being granted to almost 100% of farming areas and 60% of ponds which satisfied GAP and other global schemes.

The processing and production of pangasius has facilitated and developed a lot of value-added products and fish meal which is made from pangasius waste.

In general, even though exports still remain a challenge to the province, the production, processing and consumption of pangasius has reached 900 million USD, ranking the first among Mekong Delta prefectures.
