Dau Tieng district’s industrialization and urbanization process has made the local farming land be narrowed. In the face of the situation plus the support of the State, the local farmers have flexibly applied urban agricultural models. This is a new development way, contributing to the local sustainable agricultural development.

Models with hi-economic efficiency

Dau Tieng district has boosted sci-tech application, dealt with loan issues and called for the local farmers to change their production thoughts, contributing to creating new development strides for the local agriculture.

The Dendro orchid growing model of Nguyen Tan Phuoc Vinh in Minh Hoa commune’s Hoa Loc hamlet is a typical example for this. Currently, his 6-hectare Dendro orchid farm can earn the annual profit of VND3.6billion. The farm also creates stable jobs for more than 20 local laborers with the average income of VND5million per person per month.

Or, the Mokara orchid growing of Vo Van Quang in Thanh Tuyen commune’s Duong Long hamlet brings the monthly income of between VND40million and VND50million to his family. Do Van Son residing in Minh Thanh commune’s Cam Xe hamlet is also very successful with the model of growing various ornamental plants. Whilst, Le Van Hue in Thanh Tuyen commune’s Xom Ben hamlet can secure more than VND80million from his model of breeding ornamental fish…

Removing loan issues

Many urban agricultural models have so far loomed large across Dau Tieng district. According to the district’s Division of Economics, one of effective and sustainable solutions to improve wrong sides of the industrialization and modernization process is urban agricultural development.

With advantages, it is predicted that the district’s hi-tech and urban agricultural models will continue developing vigorously. Over the past time, sectors and mass organizations of the district actively sped up propaganda work and supported farmers to change their plant structure, develop agricultural models in general and urban agricultural ones in particular. The district’s Division of Economics was also proactive to coordinate with relevant agencies to engage activities in trade promotion, call for enterprises to make investment, set up a linkage chain in production in association with processing and consuming agricultural products.

For hi-tech agriculture getting better development, the district needs to get more support policies from linking in production to seeking stable consumption markets so that farmers can keep their mind in production and increase their competitiveness of agricultural products…In fact, farmers find it difficult to get preferential loans for hi-tech agricultural models under the Government’s Decision No.68.

The whole district now has a total of 615 hectares of growing fruit trees, 11 hectares of ornamental creatures, mushroom, vegetables…Regarding animal husbandry, there are 205 farmsteads in stable operation, 11.6 hectares of aquaculture land together with around 150 houses for swallows.
