Build up a project of safe agricultural foods from ODA

Dong Thap province has proposed to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for approval of the Project of safe agricultural products according to the form of concentrated specialized farming.

Huynh Minh Tuan, Vice Chairman of Dong Thap People’s Committee said that the province is proposing MARD to give a green light to the Project of safe agricultural products, to mobilize the ODA loans from World Bank, and submit it to the Prime Minister for approval.

The project is forecasted to feature four constituents including capacity building of concentrated production areas to ensure food safety. Strengthening the processing and consumption capacity to ensure food safety. Improving food safety and project management capacity.

The project focuses on the investment of infrastructure, from production to processing and food consumption in Dong Thap province for concentrated specialized farming of safe vegetable production area. Building four concentrated safe fruit production zones (mango, citrus, guava).

It covers two areas of lime production, two key livestock farming areas, one specialized farming area for zebrafish in Lang Bien commune (Thap Muoi district), one wholesale market, two laboratories for analyzing food safety risks, one animal quarantine station, traffic hubs, and diagnose and treat diseases for animals.

Besides, it proposes to build three laboratories for rapid testing of food safety criteria at wholesale and traditional markets. The duration of the project lasts from now to 2026.
