Bac Giang cares for 186 lychee growing area codes for export
Implementing the instruction from the People’s Committee in Bac Giang province, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) has focused on guiding the localities with big lychee cultivation area such as Luc Ngan, Luc Nam, Yen The and Tan Yen to thoroughly care for 186 lychee growing area codes (GAC) for export in the upcoming season.

Among them, 149 GACs have been accepted by China covering 15,867 ha in the districts of Luc Ngan, Luc Nam, Yen The and Tan Yen, 18 GACs have been accepted by the US and EU in 218 ha; 19 GACs have been accepted by Japan in 103ha.
According to the competent agencies, the total export output of lychee to these above markets is expected to hit 97,900 tonnes of fruit, up nearly 20,000 tonnes comparing to the figure in 2020.
To realize the target, the DARD has focused on well managing the planning to avoid the area expansion toward intensive development to enhance the productivity and quality.
The provincial lychee growing area will be maintained around 27,700 ha to yield some 160,000 tonnes of fruits in 2021 which is equivalent to 2020 quantity, in which 15,200 ha will be produced under VietGAP standard and 338 ha under GlobalGAP.
