On May 8, Director of Long An Department of Industry and Trade - Le Minh Duc chaired the working session with some departments, local authorities, businesses and cooperatives to appraise the implementation of supply contracts with HCMC as well as discuss upcoming plans.

Up to now, businesses and cooperatives have had 153 contracts to supply agricultural products for businesses, supermarkets and retail shops

According to Mr. Le Minh Duc, in 2018, the Department of Industry and Trade actively supported businesses and cooperatives to participate in the connection between producers and the distribution system; connect with Ho Chi Minh City, provinces and cities throughout the country; participate in safe agricultural products market; promote consumption in Cambodia, etc. These activities contribute to solving the output for local agricultural products.

Up to now, businesses and cooperatives have had 153 contracts to supply agricultural products for businesses, supermarkets and retail shops in Ho Chi Minh City, Long An and Ben Tre provinces. In addition, Long An strives to connect with Nafood Joint Stock Company to consume dragon fruits for processing and export.

At the meeting, representatives of businesses and cooperatives talked about advantages and difficulties in connecting to consume goods. In particular, agricultural products have to meet the standards of food hygiene and safety, origin, geographical indications, and bar codes, and so on.

In addition, the trade connection also faces many difficulties because businesses and cooperatives can not directly sign commercial contracts with major businesses. They have to sell products through intermediaries with a high cost.

In the coming time, the Department continues to coordinate with related departments and agencies to connect businesses and cooperatives to new markets. The Department also focuses on cooperating with provinces and cities, especially HCMC to promote consumption of goods, especially agricultural products. The development of supply chain of safe agricultural products into supermarkets, trade centers, safe agriculture product stores is especially strengthened, said the Director of Department of Industry and Trade - Le Minh Duc.

Because agricultural products that meet standards will be easier to consume, Mr. Le Minh Duc also suggested businesses and cooperatives comply with the terms of the contracts with partners on quality and appearance of products.
